Double Love Wins Battle of the Bands
Memphis based pop band, The Double Love Band wins Gorilla Music Battle of the bands on Sunday, September 14, 2008 at the New Daisy Theatre in Memphis, Tennessee. Said Double Love bassist Royce Wells,” We are shocked and honored. This was our first time performing live with this line up and clearly we’ve got a winning combination!” Wells would like to thank the audience, the sponsors and organizers of the event.
The Battle of the Bands, sponsored by Outburn Magazine and Pabst Blue Ribbon featured 8 bands on Sunday night. Each band was allowed a 30 minute set and winners were chosen at the end of the evening by audience response. “I was nervous, but we all went out there and did our best and that's what made us win! I'm stoked!” said singer Lillian Goldsby.
The Double Love Band will now advance to the finals of the nation competition. They are eligible to win $500 in cash, 20 hours of studio time, and a submission to a major record label. The band will also receive a headlining gig at the New Daisy Theatre.
